PickVidsThis LA Musician Built $1,200 Tiny Houses for the Homeless. Then the City Seized Them.
someone did try building better-than-tents shelters, but LA shut him down for violating code.
Reason TV profiles Elvis Summers, a Los Angeles musician who crowdfunded dozens of tiny homes for homeless people. City officials moved to remove them while pushing a multibillion-dollar housing plan. Cited in homelessness threads as an example of a private effort to build cheap shelter that LA shut down over code violations.
