PickVids
PickVids collects YouTube videos that real people keep recommending, grouped by topic and free to watch.
Where the catalog comes from
Categories, video cards, and comments come from the public data release (2026-10-31): videos.jsonl, mentions.jsonl, taxonomy.json, and related.jsonl. Comments are Hacker News comments, not YouTube comments.
The original site scanned the HN archive from 2007 through 2026, kept a video only when at least three different people mentioned it in three different months, labeled each comment as a recommendation, reference, joke, or criticism, and filed it into 16 areas and 150 topics. Ranking follows how many months a video kept being recommended.
This copy browses the same areas and topics. The watch page plays the video and lists its HN comments. The sidebar shows other videos recommended by the same HN readers. Likes, watch later, and history stay in this browser.
The catalog is used under ODC-By 1.0. If you republish it, credit the original data release and open-index/hacker-news. This site is not affiliated with YouTube, Hacker News, or Y Combinator.
