Who this applies to

PickVids lets you browse videos that real people recommended. You can watch without creating an account. This page says what stays on your device, what we store if you choose to leave an email, and what happens when a YouTube player loads.

Watching a video

The page first shows a still thumbnail. The YouTube player is not loaded until you press play. After that, the page inserts an embedded player from youtube-nocookie.com. YouTube, not PickVids, then receives the request to play the video and may set its own cookies or collect data under Google's privacy policy. Until you press play, that player is not requested.

What stays on this browser

These items are stored only in this browser. They are not sent to a PickVids account, because watching does not use an account.

• Liked videos, watch later, and watch history, in local storage.
• Theme choice, in local storage.
• Language choice, in a cookie named rtube-lang, only after you pick a language instead of following the browser.

Clearing site data in the browser removes them.

Email, if you subscribe

The box at the bottom of the page is optional. If you submit it, we store the email address and the time it was submitted. That list is not an account: there is no password, no profile, and the address cannot be used to sign in. You can browse and watch without submitting it.

Anonymous visit counts

After a page has loaded, the browser sends one small record in the background. It does not block the page. The record is a random visitor id created in this browser, the event (page view, play, or email submit), the path, and the time. It is not an account. The record does not include your name, email address, or watch history. The email you type into the subscribe box is stored only if you submit that box, and it is stored separately from these visit records. Clearing site data in the browser starts a new visitor id.

What we do not collect for watching

PickVids does not ask for an account to read category pages or watch pages. We do not sell a mailing list. Advertising is off: NEXT_PUBLIC_GOOGLE_ADCODE is empty, and the site does not load an AdSense tag from that setting. Visit counts use only the anonymous fields listed above.
